Sara Ellison
PhD LPC ACS

I provide individual therapy to adults and adolescents experiencing a variety of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, perfectionism, self-harm, suicidality, and issues related to trauma and overcontrol. I have experience working in residential and outpatient settings, and have specialized training in IFS, EMDR, RO DBT, and counseling transgender and gender diverse clients.

I see therapy as a collaborative, relational process rooted in trust, safety, and curiosity. I believe that each person holds inherent power, wisdom, and resilience, even while it may feel obscured by pain, oppression, or disconnection. My role is to walk beside you as we explore your internal landscape, tend to wounds with compassion, and make room for new ways of being.

MY APPROACH TO COUNSELING IS ROOTED IN THE BELIEF THAT HUMANS ARE RESILIENT AND ADAPTIVE, AND THAT MANY OF OUR PRESENT-DAY CHALLENGES WERE ONCE SOLUTIONS TO EVEN WORSE SUFFERING.

I acknowledge that individual pain and distress often exist within the larger context of systemic oppression and marginalization, and I strive to co-create a therapeutic space that is grounded in equity, inclusivity, and the valuing of all identities. I am also aware that I am still learning, and continue to immerse myself in training, education, and life experiences that center anti-oppressive care, culturally sensitive care, and non-pathologizing, human-centered approaches to therapy.

My therapy practice thrives alongside my passion for photography, aerial silks, travel, art, and reading. Creativity has been an integral part of my play and self-care practice since childhood, and I love supporting clients in bringing their own creative practices into session as a meaningful resource.

If you are seeking change and would like more information on how we may work together based on your specific needs and unique strengths, please reach out to schedule a consultation.
