Jacob Lishnoff
My hope as a clinician is to hold space that feels steady, affirming, and collaborative.
I want therapy to be a place where you can settle in, breathe easier, and begin working on the things that matter most to you.
I value working with individuals struggling with OCD and intrusive thoughts, anxiety, identity overcontrol, and relationship conflict. My approach is collaborative and client-led: I believe you already carry the tools you need, and my role is to help you slow down by noticing and trusting your own inner wisdom. In the therapy room, I bring warmth, curiosity, and accountability into the room, as I gently challenge you when it helps your growth goals.
Storytelling is central to my practice. The stories we tell ourselves and others shape how we move in this world. Therapy is a place to rewrite these stories in ways that affirm your worth and open up new possibilities. For those who seek it, I also draw from Black-Christian and Jewish liberation theologies to explore meaning-making and resilience.
Clinically, I integrate Narrative and Somatic-informed practices, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT/RO-DBT skills. With a background in Neuroscience, Political Philosophy, and Social Work, I understand trauma as political, psychological, and embodied, and I use this lens to support your healing. My work is grounded in an anti-oppressive perspective: mental health is inseparable from discrimination and systemic barriers.
Together, we can create a space where you feel recognized, empowered, and able to live a more sustainable and authentic life.
